Families come in all shapes and sizes, and we pride ourselves on our innate ability to capture what makes each family unique – from moms, dads, siblings and pets, down to the littlest family members and their budding personalities. And while the finished product is always a beautiful family smiling in front of a handcrafted backdrop in perfectly styled and coordinated outfits, it’s the prepping for the photo session itself that can feel overwhelming.

That’s why we’re pleased to introduce Jaime Diehl Style, Ivory Tree Portraits’ very own personal stylist. Jaime is down-to-earth, approachable and fun, and she works with families to create a personalized, comfortable and timeless look so that you never tire of seeing your photos prominently displayed in your home.

Though Jaime began her styling career as a Senior Stylist at Stitch Fix, and spent time at QVC styling live shows and model photo shoots, its her education and experience in human behavior that sets her apart from other stylists. Having spent ten years working with children as an at-home family therapist, she draws from her experiences in changing the lives of others to transform her client’s closets, lives and unique circumstances. Most importantly, she’s a mother herself and has personally experienced the struggle to climb out of style ruts, transition back into the workforce and style her own family photography sessions.

Jaime’s mission is to help moms get their style back, and she believes in a warm, friendly and honest approach. She says, “When you’re comfortable with your clothes, you have the confidence to let your personality shine through. A well-styled session will showcase your family’s personality and what makes you unique – and provide you with a finished product that you’re proud to display in your home.”

Need help with styling your session? Here are some of Jaime’s family photo session styling tips:

  1. Don’t Match. Coordinate. Overtly matching outfits will feel dated. Instead, use different shades or patterns in your preferred color to create cohesion.
  2. Add Texture. Add depth and dimension to your photos with textures like lace, crochet, or linen. Accessories such as dad’s favorite tie or grandma’s vintage scarf may be just the touch you need to add some visual interest to your photo.
  3. Consider Your Home Decor and Style. These gorgeous photos will grace the walls of your home for years to come. Choose clothing with varying tones of the same color scheme on the walls and furniture of your home.

Still need more support? You’re not alone! Based on popular demand, we are pleased to offer Personalized Session Styling for $65 with Jaime. To start, you will receive a personalized “Mood Board” to create and solidify your vision. Depending on your goals, you will receive either a personalize Look Book, complete with shopable links, or Jaime can help you shop your closets to find a cohesive look for the family. About the Author

Lara Aman Mattey

Founder I Owner I Ivory Tree

Lara is the coolest person alive, according to her husband, Nick, & two little ladies, Caitie (10) & Lorelai (9). But she thinks her time is limited on that statement as they continue to grow older. Lara comes from a large family, with whom she is still very close with and you’ll often see shared through the blog and on social media. She went to Penn State (We Are…) where she met Nick, who’s always in a baseball hat (still, yes as a fully functioning adult). Ivory Tree's very own photographer, Marcy shot her newborn photography sessions & Lara was hooked! Lara is not a photographer, super weird, we know. But lives for the experience, creative direction, and meeting all the cool folks who come through the Ivory Tree Portraits studio!

Follow along as she shares studio antics, personal antidotes, & fun stuff going on in the community.
