Mamas Need Self Care

You hear it all the time, mamas need a break from all the planning and mental energy it takes, well to do everything. We wanted to create a one-day event that’s all about you! We do all the work so your kiddos can celebrate you this Mother’s Day. So a few things were important to us:

1. No Mental Energy – We take care of it (except for scheduling, you do need to schedule a time)
2. Handmade Presents – That kids make and you take home
3. It’s about Mama – You get in the picture

Hiya Mama, Get in the Picture

I totally sent Nick (my hubby) the TikTok (obviously viewed via Facebook like every other 40 something mama) trend where a women is taking an amazing video of herself for her memorial because there are NEVER any good pictures of her. Ok, that took a dark turn. But I’m not going to lie, the only pictures I’m in are from the studio! Or I’m like half sneezing or mid-sentence making a super unflattering face, or maybe from a way low angle that is beyond.

So this Mother’s Day GET IN THE PICTURE, MAMA. Here’s the deal, we know Dads don’t book portrait sessions. And that’s ok! But it’s also ok for you to book this event and get in the pics with your kiddos, get the homemade bouquet of flowers and make an amazing memory! This one day really is all about you!

Why Poppies for Mother’s Day – Unique and Vibrant

Poppies are vibrant and unique, just like motherhood. Motherhood is so different for each of us. Honestly, motherhood is different for me between my kids because they are so very different.

Our Poppies are definitely more vibrant than you typically see in the studio but that’s because motherhood is so vibrant! And we thought there is nothing moms deserve more than to be among the flowers! We think mamas should be showered in flowers. Poppies symbolize undying love, remembrance, and sacrifice  – to us that’s Motherhood. But also, because they are just so pretty! They have the most delicate little petals and we think it’s simply sweet to sit amongst the poppies!

Ok so why are we in studio with poppies instead of in a poppy field? First, have you ever seen the Wizard of Oz, how scary are those monkeys? But seriously, this time of year the weather is so unpredictable, you wake up one day and it’s raining and the next it’s stunning, then it’s cold. Part of our criterial was to take the mental energy off of mama’s plate – so we need something you can count on. Not something that will change based on the weather.

Homemade Presents For Mother’s Day

Presents our kids make themselves mean the most. We all know it. And we all know that in the BLINK OF AN EYE, those adorable little hand prints stop coming home. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

But what I find fun is that my ladies keep the most amazing presents coming. Caitie, my sketcher, leaves me little sketches on my ipad to find once I get into work. I love to watch her creative spirit and try to figure out what it means to her.

Lorelai is my crafter, so I always get something with lots of glue and paint! My all-time favorite, that still warms me to the heart every time I look at it (which is often as it’s above my desk at work), is a box top with sticky notes. Yup, I know just what every mom wants, more sticky notes. But here’s the deal, each sticky note has a saying that I yell to her:

Shine Bright
Remember Who You Are
Do Big Things
Be You
Rock on, Rock Star

Yes, you read that correctly, I yell them at her and Caitie when they are getting on the bus, leaving the car, or going off to a friend’s. I’m surprised that it doesn’t embarrass them, honestly it makes them smile. And their friends turn around to see what I’m going to yell to them. And yup, you betcha I yell words of encouragement to their friends.  Because we’re all a village for building a kids’ self esteem.

Motherhood is hard, it’s rewarding and amazing and vibrant and unique, and all the things. So this Mother’s Day let someone else celebrate you, among the Poppies! Get in the picture, have your kids make you a bouquet and make the memory. Big hugs for each of you on Mother’s Day from one mom to another. Oh, and get in the picture!
